Bourbon Bacon Onion Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium Red Onion (diced)

  • 8 Strips Thick Sliced Bacon

  • ¼ Cup Bourbon Whiskey (divided)

  • 1 Cup Sour Cream

  • 2/3 Cup Cream Cheese

  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder

  • Salt & Pepper (to taste if needed)

Directions

  • Cook your bacon until crispy; set aside and chop.
  • Using the left-over bacon grease sauté your onions until soft and tender.
  • Add in all but 1 Tbsp of your bourbon to the onions and continue to sauté until liquids have evaporated.
  • Transfer onions to a bowl and place in the refrigerator to cool.
  • In a medium size bowl combine the sour cream, cream cheese, and garlic, blend until smooth.
  • Once onions are cooled add them to the sour cream mixture along with bacon and remaining Tbsp bourbon, mix until well combined.

Notes

    You can either use a hand mixer or a good spatula.
